If you love golf you probably like to play as often as you can. Of course, getting to the golf course is not always easy due to time restraints and other obligations. Consider some of the golf games available for when you can’t hit that course. (And consider them as great birthday gifts for the golf nut in the family.)
A lot of families like to golf together and this can be very expensive. One of the great advantages of the various golf games is that you play them at home.  You can play on your home gaming system or your own back yard (playing frisbee with your golf CD isn’t what we’re talking about here.) Not only will you be spending quality time together, you can also increase your golfing skill.

Because my husband loves to play golf my daughter has developed an interest in golf. I don’t mind playing, but I can’t watch it on television. Once I start watching, I’m off for a nap. It never fails.

Those two, however, can sit there together and watch it for hours. As a golfing birthday gift I got him a golf video game for his GameCube. They have also made up a few of their own golfing games to play in the back yard. It’s always been something special they share, and has helped both of them play better. Granted, my daughter isn’t a master golfer, but she’s getting the hang of things rather quickly.

One of the games they play is rather simple, but they always have fun doing it. They set up stakes in the yard, and then practice putting. The best putts roll to rest up against the stake, much like you would aim for the hole in a regular game of golf. While this doesn’t seem like much, it has surprised me how much better my daughter does when we play miniature golf. This also helps my husband from losing his patience, because it is just a game in the back yard, and no one is keeping score.

You can make up your own golf games like this one, and as long as you aren’t driving the ball through your neighbor’s windows, you should have hours of fun playing with your family, and improving your skills.

You can also find back yard golf games that are ready made. Some you can use to practice your swing by hitting a ball connected to something. No matter how hard to swing, the ball won’t go too far and cause any damage. On rainy days, you can always fire up the gaming system and play against the big boys. Though my daughter isn’t very good at this, she loves to watch my husband play, and often cheers him on. Not only are they having fun together playing golf games, I’m getting some time to myself. And when they’re watching the tube I put my feet in his lap and get a nice foot massage!

Guess that golfing birthday present was a pretty good idea.

A money tree is a good luck plant. Its official botanical title is Pachira. This good luck plant can grow a few little inches or it can grow to a staggering seven feet in height. The money tree is commonly known for its thick trunk that is contrasted by its thin branchs. There are five large leaves jutting out of the top of the unique plant. Some say that the leaves represent five fingers on a person’s hand.

The trunk of the money tree may be twisted. This plant can be trained to grow in different directions and some like to braid the trunks of the smaller money tree by combining between three and five trunks. Some have even braided together as many as eight trunks together to create a design known as a golden cage.

The concept of the golden cage design comes from the analogy of the five fingers collecting the cash and the golden cage holds the cash locking the funds safely away. Of course, the five leaves represent the fingers and the braided trunks represent the cage.

This innovative and poetic representation gives the money tree its depth and value. For this reason, the money tree makes a wonderful gift for people who are purchasing a new home. The gift is also a great idea for a wedding present wishing the happy couple great wealth in the future.

The money tree is also a fantastic gift to buy for a business associate. It represents good fortune in your company’s interactions and general business practices. The present is appropriate for holidays and birthdays as well as miscellaneous occasions that call for such a thoughtful gesture.

Not everyone associates with the Pachira plant. My grandmother once bought one for my grandfather. When she told him what he was getting while he was opening it (which she had a habit of doing) he hurried through the wrapping paper in anticipation. When he saw his money tree, he looked at my grandmother in confusion. He was literally expecting a tree made out of money.

From that time on, our family created our own money trees out of real cash for my grandfather. He was never disappointed in the gifts. We made sure to change the designs each and every time to keep things interesting. No matter what he liked the trees. Nothing says love more than a real money tree.

Some friends of ours just had their first baby - an adorable baby girl named Madison Lee. We have been talking about what to buy them as a gift. We have had so many ideas, but finally settled on a baby gift basket.

Baby gift baskets can be purchases pre-assembled. However, we have decided to collect and assemble our gift basket on our own. We will purchase a large basket with a sturdy handle at a local craft shop along with cellophane (preferably in pink or printed with a baby motif). As well, we will pick up some ribbons, tissue paper, possibly a pre-inflated foil balloon with congratulations message, and of course an appropriate card.

Then we will begin gathering items to put into our baby gift basket. Some items we will look for are good quality baby shoes with decent support, a couple of choices from the Baby Einstein line of products and a fashionable hat, mitts and scarf set.

Then we will choose more generic items to fill up our baby gift basket. These choices will likely include liquid baby powder (real baby powder can affect baby’s breathing), a baby-safe stuffed toy, something to help mommy relax (bath salts or similar aromatherapy products), an assortment of baby care products and last but not least, a gift certificate for a local restaurant so that both parents can enjoy an evening away from the hectic demands of parenthood.

Baby Gift Baskets are an especially good choice for people living a great distance away (like us). As long as items are non-breakable, these gift baskets can be safely shipped and are a great way to send best wishes and practical gifts to new parents and babies.

In the past, when we had our children, we were fortunate to receive several baby gift baskets. It’s a lot of fun to get and give an assortment of gifts and it’s a good way to make sure to include everyone in the family. It’s especially good to remember any other little brothers or sisters in the family, who may feel somewhat left out by all the fuss over the new baby.

Including a special gift or two for the other children is a wonderful gesture of care and makes things go that much more smoothly while welcoming the new little one to the family. Good choices to include in your baby gift basket, for the other children will likely include toys and games that they are able to operate on their own.

So it’s very important to be conscious of their ages, since buying a toy or game beyond their age range will require adult assistance and likely result in disappointment for the children, rather than the intended distraction.

Indeed, buying or assembling a baby gift basket is a great way to personalize your gift. The extra time it may take to make your gift just right will definitely be appreciated by the new parents and the practicality of the gift will make their job that much easier.

Heh. Who would wait to the last minute to buy their Christmas gifts anyway? I mean, It’s not even October yet, so buy ‘em now.
Ok, as of this writing Christmas is a ways off, but what the heck. Why not procrastinate? The latest statistics, made up by me, say that 82.4% of us will wait till the last minute anyway.
Knowing this, Chris Prillo put together a list of The Best and Worst Last Minute Christmas Gifts, a good reference for those of us who prefer to wait. And wait.

Personal coupons for slave labor and appropriate batteries are always great gifts.

Now how last minute are we talking about? A week before? Christmas eve? It’s the day and you’re stuck?

Get to that mall on christmas eve (go when the stores open.)  For women, jewelry. Nothing more needs be said. For men, fancy tools or gadgets.

Gift certificates to something or someplace the gift-getter likes.

A coupon to the movie and dinner of her choice.

Worst gifts? I’m reminded of my childhood…

underwear.

Clothing might be ok. I mean Batman cotumes are cool (if you kids likes Batman) but underwear?

My wife got a toilet seat once. Her father-in-law thought is was a great gift. Lousy gift for a kid, though.

Worst comes to worst and the day has arrived?

Scribble out a card in your best chicken scratch with an offer for a shopping spree worth (insert amount you’re willing to pay, then double it.)

You might walk away alive…

Finding good gifts for girlfriends can seem like a daunting task.  Many women are extremely finicky in what they like or don’t like, and if you’re dating a girl like this it can make their approaching birthday seem like an impending doom.  What can you possibly get her that she’ll be sure to like?  What if she just hates it?  What is going through that head of hers at any given moment, and what is the deal with the toilet seat thing??

These are all some examples of questions that race through my mind whenever there is an approaching gift giving obligation for my girlfriend.  Of all the gift giving events in any given year, it is the gifts for girlfriends that puts me the most on edge.  You’re saying a lot when you get a gift for your girlfriend, no matter what you get them.

Every gift has a message behind it that she’ll read like a book, so you have to be careful!  A bottle of perfume or some chocolates may be good gifts at one point in a relationship, but may then be a slap in the face at another.

Don’t lose hope!  Buying some nice gifts for girlfriends can be a lot easier than you’d think.  Step number one; don’t panic.  So you only have two days left, big deal.  You can do a lot in two days.  Panicking will just make you buy something on impulse, which is never the best way to go.  Take a deep breath and think about the issue rationally.  First of all, ask yourself what kind of message you want to convey.  This is the key.

If you’re lucky in love and you want to show it, don’t hold back.  Sure, she might tell you things like she’ll love you no matter what, and it doesn’t matter what you get her, and blah blah blah.  No matter how ‘low maintenance’ your girlfriend is, she’ll be impressed by an expensive gift, so don’t be stingy.  However, good gifts for girlfriends aren’t all about money.  Even more important than the price tag is how personalized the gift is to her.

This isn’t as hard as you’d think.  Here’s two gifts for girlfriends you can’t really go wrong with; clothes and jewelry.  And for both you just have to think back on the kinds of things you’ve seen her wearing.  Don’t tell me you haven’t been paying attention!  If you must, pull out some pictures to jog your memory, and put the toilet seat down while you’re at it.  Or, call one of her friends!  Your girlfriend’s best friend can be an invaluable resource; don’t be too shy to ask for help.

We all know one. There is at least one in every family and one in every circle of friends. There is even one in every office! There is always that one person that you know who is absolutely impossible to buy a gift for! These people either have everything, or want nothing. They don’t drop hints at all, and when asked, they simply say that they don’t know, they don’t care, or they don’t want anything.

Well, now you can buy a gift for that person. The solution lies in an eBay gift certificate! This will allow your loved one to essentially buy anything that they want, in a very exciting way. eBay gift certificates can easily be purchased through paypal, in varying amounts.

There are things that you should point out to the gift recipient, however. For instance, eBay gift certificates do expire. eBay gift certificates will not be accepted for all auctions either – they can only be redeemed for those auctions that accept Paypal as a form of payment. Other than that, your loved one should not have any problems redeeming their eBay gift certificate!

Are you a member of ebay yet?  If not then join here, it’s 100% free.

I found this on photojojo: It’s a project where you can take a photograph, say 4 x 6, and apply it to a set of four blocks. Why? It makes a cool display and you can shift the blocks around to interesting effect.

You’ll be able to find excellent directions on his site, but in a nutshell he cuts the picture into four pieces and applies each piece to one of the four blocks.

In the end you have a slick looking photo tile which will make a unique gift to gift to that special someone. Or a great gag gift to give to that, ahem, other someone.

Check it out and make sure you look at his video of the whole process.

The revolution of franchise coffee stores has created a larger market of coffee drinkers than ever before. People who were once difficult to shop for can be surprised by coffee gift baskets given to them by a friend, colleague or loved one. They are relatively inexpensive and suitable for just about every occasion.

Some come with a variety of coffees that expose coffee drinkers to new flavors. Samplers can include coffee made from different countries and like wine, introduce a coffee drinker to flavors and textures that go beyond the everyday cup of Joe.

Coffee gift baskets also come with sweets that one can enjoy with coffee. Some of the most popular inserts in coffee gift baskets would be Biscotti, an Italian crunchy cookie that usually is in stick form. It can be dunked in coffee to loosen its texture and the flavors available tend to enhance the flavors of coffee with white or dark chocolate and cinnamon. Flavored creamers are an excellent companion included in coffee gift baskets. The exotic coffee flavors can be paired with a smooth creamer to add depth and texture. This is every coffee drinker’s dream!

Beyond flavored creamers, liqueurs such as Khalua, Irish crème and amaretto can also be found in some coffee gift baskets. This adds a great experience for those after dinner coffee drinkers. If you want to add some personality to coffee gift basket, include a set of mugs that give the gift a theme.

For example, know a big football fan that drinks coffee? Include a set of coffee mugs that is themed towards their favorite team or the two teams who were in the most recent Super Bowl. Many times retailers take the guesswork out of this type of gift giving by providing pre-packaged sets.

Along this same theme there are specialized versions for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and even Christmas. These types of coffee gift baskets will generally come with a mug that celebrates the holiday with a saying or image on it, along with a variety of coffees and perhaps some chocolate.

Ultimately there are plenty of choices when you are considering purchasing one. They are a unique gift that can be personalized and delivered on a one time, semi-annual or monthly basis through a coffee club.

There are even more options offered by major retailers who create pre-packaged sets to provide an easy gift option for the coffee lover. Whether you are shopping for a relative, friend of the nice accountant who does your taxes, keep your eyes open for coffee gift baskets that will make shopping easier and put a smile on a coffee lover’s face.

Many small businesses today realize the need of showing appreciation by providing client gifts. In the rush to produce quality work that meets with and exceeds client expectations, it’s still important to take the time to think of ways to show clients that their business is appreciated.

There are lots of stock items that are available. Some businesses are based solely around providing promotional gifts to companies who in turn can pass these items on to clients. However, the challenge comes is thinking of truly unique and personalized client gifts that really convey appreciation and stand out as novel, useful and demonstrate the time that was put in to selecting the gift.

Clients are used to being bombarded with lack-luster promotional items like pens, magnets and calendars. However, more forward-thinking companies are learning to go one step further by appealing the to individual interests of their clients.

This can be conveyed by offering a variety of client gifts that demonstrate a personal interest in the client. Some examples of such gifts include tickets to a favorite sporting event (giving tickets that may be difficult to obtain or very costly), invitations to use private box seats at a variety of functions, providing gift certificates to popular restaurants or stores and even including clients in personal outings such as trips to the cottage, or to parties hosted on office premises or even held in homes.

These sorts of client gifts up the ante and make your company stand out as original, thoughtful and willing to go the extra mile by showing a personal interest in clients.

In addition to personalizing client gifts, smart business owners will also show hospitality when clients visit their office space. Some nice gestures can include ordering lunch or brunch from a local favorite, offering home-baked goodies along with fresh brewed coffee, and by always remembering personal preferences such as a client favoring tea over coffee, any health problems that dictate a particular diet, or even remember a client’s soft drink preferences. These personal touches go a long way as far as client appreciation goes and definitely keep your company top of mind for the future.

A classic gift for clients and employees alike. Order corporate branded wine online now. This will be the gift that’s remembered!

Taking the time to record and remember your client’s personal information and preferences communicates to them that you are interested in them as people, and are not just looking to fleece them at every turn. This is how long-term client relationships are built and goes a long way in ensuring strong client relations, open lines of communication and positive business interaction.

All milestones deserve to be celebrated and this includes long-term commitments such as 50th anniversaries. Many times a place will have a special celebration for this event as it is a milestone that many organizations could never fathom. It is something that shows that the company has been established and proven in their respective field. It is a rare feat that many companies have struggled for and usually only the elites have achieved. Purchasing a 50th anniversary gift for the founder of the company seems very appropriate.

In marriages, it is a milestone that is precious and holds special esteem by those that are wedded for this long. It shows that their love has been strong for half a century and that warrants a special 50th anniversary gift. In this case many people give something that is gold, something that is extra special, or something that is unique like a second honeymoon as a 50th anniversary gift.

Choosing a gift is something that can be a challenge for anyone and it should be something that is special for all those involved. At this point the marriage has been the foundation for a family that may extend to three generations and has reached to the lives of multiple people.

This means that the 50th anniversary gift has to be something that will standout among the past gifts and should be something that is a symbol of the testament of their undying love. This is even truer in today’s day and age where marriage is taken lightly and so many unions are broken in tragedy.

In the modern world it is uncommon to find anything that has endured for fifty years and that alone warrants a special 50th anniversary gift for whatever it is. This is something that comes around only once and is second only to the 100th anniversary, yet this is something that is even rarer to behold.

Even in something like sports, such as the NBA where the 50th anniversary was presented to the fans with the 50 greatest players shown in their glory and each given a 50th anniversary gift that was to signify the appreciation that the NBA has in each of them.

This is something that so few places have done, and yet there are even fewer that have achieved this standard. A company is impressive if it can last for ten years so the big fifty is something that is closer to a fairy tale.

This is also something that is regrettably true in marriages as well. There are so many steps along the way to the big fifty and that is the true challenge for anything, to endure and prove that it was meant to be. Giving a 50th anniversary gift is a wonderful way to acknowledge this special event.
